Ukrainian Institute of high molecular compounds carried out a study on modifying alkyd paint by adding petroleum polymer resin into the formula. Pentaphthalic acid paint and petroleum polymer resin were used in the research. In addition, iron Dan and chalkiness should be added to the formula at the ratio of 30:70. The additives are dispersed in the film-forming agent medium mixed with petroleum polymer resin and alkyd paint
the results show that the binary formulation system composed of petroleum polymer resin and alkyd paint is incompatible in the range of 5%~95% concentration. Adding Tiedan/chalk additives can expand the wide range of their compatible output signals, and make the concentration of petroleum polymer
resin reach 20%~80%. Petroleum polymer resin is cheap and easy to obtain. It has good properties such as acid-base resistance, water resistance, easy solubility in
aromatics, petroleum hydrocarbons and higher alcohols. It is suitable for preparing coatings/paints
